I used to be a miserable employee in the corporate world of the New York City fashion industry.
I say "miserable" because making $35,000 per year in the Big Apple should honestly be illegal.
I had no money.
(My rent on my apartment was more than I was making at the time. Do that math. It didn't work out.)
I had no friends.
And to top it off, my boss . . .
. . . well, if you have ever seen the movie The Devil Wears Prada, that was like my life.
And just when I thought it couldn't get any worse . . . well, it did.
I'd had a spinal fusion in 2003, about five years prior . . . and with the pressure and tension I was carrying in my back from the stress of my job, I actually tore my spine while living in good ol' NYC.
I couldn't walk for about three months.
The farthest I could go was from my bedroom to my bathroom . . . and from my bathroom, back to my bedroom.
I couldn't drive.
I certainly couldn't work.
And there was really not that much I could do.
At that moment I knew I could not have a nine-to-five job anymore . . .
. . . and I couldn't work for somebody else anymore . . .
. . . because I needed the freedom to take care of myself when I needed to.
So I called up my father, Bill Glazer, and asked him if I could move back to Baltimore and join the family business.
(For me, that felt like the safest next step to becoming an entrepreneur in charge of my own schedule and having some freedom in my life to take care of myself at the time.)
Quick, important side note:
Now at the time, my father was a famous marketer/copywriter and the owner of a company called Glazer-Kennedy Insider's Circle with his co-founder Dan Kennedy. Both are considered absolute marketing legends, but to me, my dad is just my dad.
My father was known for his OUTRAGEOUS advertising campaigns and as the four-time best-selling author of the book OUTRAGEOUS Advertising That's Outrageously Successful.
He built Glazer-Kennedy Insider's Circle into the largest provider of marketing and money information to small business owners around the globe. (The company was purchased in 2021 by my father's mentee, Russell Brunson, owner of ClickFunnels, and rebranded to NO B.S. Magnetic Marketing.)

So I called up my father, Bill Glazer, and asked him if I could move back to Baltimore and join the family business.
And the first time I asked him, he said, "No."
So I asked him again, and he said, "No" again.
And in that moment, I remembered a saying that my father used to say around the dinner table when I was growing up:
"Mara, Glazers never give up!"
So I asked him a third time.
And this time he said, "Mara, if you really want this, if you really want to move back to Baltimore and join the family business . . . you need to earn it."
So I spent the next six months working for my dad for free, doing whatever he would ask me to do . . . writing copy, marketing plans, proposals. Whatever he would ask me to do, I would do, because that's how badly I wanted it.
(Meanwhile, I had healed up some and was still working in my miserable fashion industry job too.)
Finally, after six months of that, my dad called me up and said:
"Okay, Mara, if you really want this, if you really want to move back to Baltimore and join the family business, you need to understand two things:
1. You will be working harder than you've ever worked in your whole entire life.
(That's true. My dad worked me like a dog. And I don't even work with my dad anymore, and he still works me like a dog.)
2. You will be heading up our social and alternative media marketing department.
Now, I didn't want to tell my dad this at the time - but I had no idea what this "social and alternative media marketing" stuff even really was. (And especially how it applied to business.)
In fact, I'll never forget walking into my very first day of work, and one of our employees at the time - his name is TJ - walked right up to me, looked down at me (he's a very tall guy), put his hand on his hip with this sassy little attitude, and said:
"So, what do you know about this social media stuff anyway?"
Immediately my belly filled with butterflies and I got a tight feeling in my throat...(gulp).
But I told him the truth.
At the time, when I was in my young 20's there were only two things I knew about social media:
How to invite my friends to my parties
How to post the drunk party pictures the next day
That's literally ALL I knew how to do.
So I spent the next several months inhaling everything I could get my hands on about making money with social media.
I implemented everything I learned.
I tested it.
I tracked it.
I tweaked it.
The result:
We did an additional MILLION DOLLARS in sales in less than 278 days,
tracked back to social media alone.
(This was in 2009, before Facebook ads even existed! I figured out how to actually track our sales from social media, which we think makes me the first person to have figured this out at the time. But that's a story for a different day.)
Now that I had proven myself, I had somehow earned the right to learn marketing and how to write direct response sales copy (aka the words that sell a lot of stuff) from my father, which at the time I thought was pretty lame . . . but it ended up changing my life.
Now, Glazer-Kennedy Insider's Circle was a very innovative company at the time. It was one of the first (and largest) information/education companies ever to create monthly recurring revenue in the form of a coaching membership . . .
. . . meaning we sold a subscription program where the members paid a monthly fee to receive new deliverables every single month to help them achieve a specific goal.
And it was the brainpower of my dad.
And because my dad is my dad, I had a front-row seat.
Together we created new membership growth campaigns.
We tested them.
We tweaked them.
We optimized them.
And I got to learn what worked and what didn't to build a thriving coaching membership with many huge successes along the way.
At our height, we had over 11,000 members paying between $39.97 and $59.97 EVERY single month in our most popular membership level, which we called Gold. (Do the math on that.) Plus we had thousands of members paying between $197 and $297 EVERY SINGLE MONTH for our higher membership levels.
And many members went on to buy our other courses, join our high-ticket mastermind programs, attend our big conferences, become owners of our coaching franchises, and invest in the many other offers that we created for our community.
Then my father sold the business in 2011 to a venture capital firm (the first owners, before Russell Brunson bought it), and I remembered why I'd left my corporate job in the first place.
So I went on my own again and started creating marketing campaigns and writing sales copy for other entrepreneurs in all sorts of different niches and industries. (Many of which you probably see often on your Instagram and TikTok feeds.)
After a while, people started asking me to help them launch and grow their coaching memberships, like I did with my dad! That's when I worked with:

1,437 monthly paying members, creating $58,000 in monthly recurring revenue in just the first 2 weeks of launching.
Relationship Coach

522 monthly paying members, creating $30,000 in monthly recurring revenue in just the first 2 weeks that she launched.
Manifestation Coach

317 members in just 30 days of launching!
Financial Freedom Coach

Just to name a few!
I was always the girl behind the scenes. (Or "behind the hustle" as I like to say!) I never cared to be "Insta famous" or the girl people knew. And I loved it that way.
But when my dad fell ill after a hemorrhagic stroke in 2021, I made a promise to him that I would continue teaching others what he taught me about creating life-changing predictable monthly recurring revenue with a coaching membership.
(Plus, others had been asking me to do it!)

So I wrote the first edition of The Membership Millionaire.
And started my own affordable coaching membership, called the 100 Members Club, where we help people create their membership offer and get their first (or next) 100+ members, The Membership Millionaire Way!
And now it's grown into an entire suite of tools, trainings, and support to help you start (or scale) your life-changing coaching membership…
WITHOUT working with one more private client (unless you want to)
WITHOUT being chained to your desk stuck on Zoom calls all day
WITHOUT hustling some sort of product or service you don't really want to sell (even if that product or service is yours) just to make the income you want
WITHOUT relying on sporadic brand deals that suck your soul!
And WITHOUT ever again having to start over from $0 at the beginning of every month!
Which are just a handful of reasons why I call it the BEST business to be in, in the world!
And it would be my honor to teach it to you too!

Before my father had his stroke that changed his life forever, there is a business mantra he taught me that has brought me more financial abundance than anything else.
He used to say…
Do good for your business.
Do good for your customers.
Do good for others, too.
It's easy to get bogged down with all the noise on the internet about what to do & focus on as an entrepreneur.
But really…
DOING GOOD matters.
Which is why I donate $1 of every copy of my book sold to
The Veterans Affairs Foundation in Pittsburgh Stroke Rehabilitation PIRATE Program.
(This program was founded and created by my father's rehab speech therapist. My dad was lucky enough to be able to afford the best care because of the membership model business he built. Many sadly can't. That's why this organization is so important. It gives our United States veterans who have had a stroke, and who live anywhere in the country, the access to the same care my father had — all for free.)
In fact, I promised my dad I would always continue to donate to this worthy cause.
Which means that when you choose to work with me and my team, you'll be able to use this business advice my dad taught me, that's brought abundant blessings into my life. (And I think you will find that it will do the same for you too!)
You'll be doing good for your business - by creating life-changing predictable monthly recurring revenue with your very own membership, so you can have the FREEDOM of entrepreneurship, WITH the SECURITY of a predictable paycheck. :)
Doing good for your customers - by giving them an affordable option to work with you and change their life with the good work that you do.
AND… doing good for others - by helping me donate to veterans who have risked their lives for our freedoms, and who have had a stroke and need care.

This is a picture of my father and mother hand delivering one of our donation checks to The Veterans Affairs Foundation in Pittsburgh.
